Involucres 2.5-3 × 2.5-5 mm. Ray florets 10-18. Disc florets 15-25. Pappus scales 0.5-1.4 mm. Flowering Mar-May. Open sites in brushland; 0-10 m; Tex. Variety grandis is known from the Rio Grande valley.
